Growing older disgracefully
Eve says it’s time to embrace aging as winning at life, rather than something to be “brave” about. She shares some tips to think more positively about your body
The supers – the gang of impossibly stunning models who famously wouldn’t get out of bed for less than US$10,000 – are now in their fifties. And arguably Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington more gorgeous than ever. Other icons of the 90s and noughties are also aging into the prime of their lives: recent photos of Demi Moore in a string bikini or Gillian Anderson, quietly oozing sex appeal, show that age is no longer a limit on looking breath-taking, at least in celeb land.
For us mortals in the real world, however, getting older is often accompanied by the realities of a changing body, from ever-deepening wrinkles to mid-life weight gain to the downward pull of gravity. Exercise, a good diet, tweakments (for those into such things) and dressing to suit your body shape all help keep us looking and feeling younger. But perhaps one of the most under-rated youth-boosters is something that, counter-intuitively, only comes with age: just not giving so much of a fuck anymore.
